Assume the buzzards & the raven were not his intended target & would like to think if he had his time again, he would target the fox differently.

People make stupid mistakes. Don't we all.some more serious than others.

    I don’t know…

What he did was wrong, not disputing it. But to give it some perspective - he killed some animals.

There are stories in every paper in the country every day about lads up in court for ruining peoples lives, and they seem to get off light enough too a lot of the time…

Foxes don't qualify as equivalent wildlife then?

What's this an attempt to tar all farmers with the same brush???

You do realise there's chancers in all walks of life?

What do you do yourself? And I'll go looking for court cases involving examples of some members of that working groups wrongdoings and keep it updated as if I'm proving some sort of point.

2 wrongs don't make a right and this kind of thing does nothing for the image of farming in this country and the many challenges it faces already. Crimes against nature are now recognised by the likes of the UN given the Biodiversity crisis across the globe. In other countries like Spain similar crimes are dealt with far more seriously via significant custodial sentances and 6 figure fines in serious cases. As the judge noted in this case, the recklessness of this clown in terms of using a toxic substance that has been banned in the EU for over 20 years now could have killed anything from pets to working dogs or even a child if they had come in contact with it.

The issue is that the use of poison to target foxes has been banned for many years now due to the very reasons outlined in this case ie. destructive effect on fully protected species. Foxes can be legally controlled via shooting/cage trapping/snaring.

You’re doing yourself a mis-service by mentioning the UN while speaking about such a serious matter.

The same UN that has Russia as a permanent member of the security council. The UN has Zero credibility anymore.

Mod note; what those farmers did was wrong, nothing to do with the UN. As amacca said there’s chancers in all walks of life. Buzzards didn’t appear here until those poisons were banned. Let’s keep the personal stuff out of it and stick to the topic. Thanks.

Pity they don't extend the law to encompass the cruel and agonising death inflicted on those unfortunate bulls in so called bull-fighting"

In fairness, whether you or I like it or not it's their custom.

Also how do those countries deal with cases where humans are killed or injured. They may also have more severe penalties for those offences.

In this country you could be convicted of manslaughter and get a sentence of a couple of years.
