DIY Outdoor slatted fence

    Hi there. I'm planning on making a slatted wooden fence for our back garden. Something like the pic below in appearance.

    Hardwoods or cedar would cost me a fortune, so I'm wondering if I could use budget-friendly planed white deal battens with some sort of chemical protection and stain.

    Is this doable? Can you recommend a produt(s) to treat it?

    See post re brightening up concrete wall..one lad did a great job similar to what you're thinking of using pallets
