Sprint race this weekend.

Some points:

Can Verstappen return to winning ways and can Perez join him on the podium for a 1-2 in the home country of Red Bull? Can Sainz get back-to-back victories or will Ferrari team mate Leclerc put a stop to it?

TV Times:

Sky Sports:

Friday: Practice: 12.30. Qualifying: 16.00.

Saturday: Practice: 11.30. Sprint Race: 15.30.

Sunday: Race: 14.00

Channel 4:

Saturday: Sprint Race Highlights: 17.30.

Sunday: 18.30.

Back to back race weekends is great and a sprint too to add to the mix.

Sprints are grand in small doses. It puts the qualifying at 4pm on a Friday though which is less than ideal. I’m recording with the hope that I might be home in time but I doubt it.

Got a nice surprise on twitter this morning when lying in bed seeing a post saying that qualy was at 11am, so jumped out of bed to get some jobs done early only to find out it was Haas advertising the US times!! Now I’m all excited and have the whole day to go!

Yes, I'm also curious how it will plan out and whether Merc got their wish. I think it won't be until the French GP that directive comes into effect.

Short track this weekend, which means traffic/car park scenarios! Lots of comms on that I suspect. And what about track limits being more stringent with the white line and not kerbs...will that come into it also?!

They're not rewriting the rules to ban the currently legal floors until France so there will be no change for this race.

Austria is a track that usually generates great racing, I expect even more of that with the new cars. Honda tend to have a much stronger engine in high altitudes though and they're already strong this year for once so there is a risk they'll just run away with it if they have a trouble free weekend.

I've never understood why they complain and report about being blocked in practice. It's practice, not qualifying. I can understand where there's safety concerns like the incident with a car travelling through slowly through the blind turns in Saudi for example, but other than that I don't see why cars on a fast lap have any right to insist others jump out of their way.

I guess they do it because practice is going to be a bit of a waste of time if they can't get fast laps in because there's always someone going too slowly. It always bad on this track quali will be the same. Someone is bound to get shafted.

They don't use the safety car in qualifying. For the safety of the marshals all cars are called back to their garages.
