I think this might be the worst gameweek I’ve ever had going by GW rank and the rank change I’ve had.

To say I’ve been down in the dumps these last few days is an understatement.

It’s hard not to be down when I’m very invested in the game at the moment.

I’ve considered stepping back big time in leagues next season to be honest as it gets very demanding staying on top of things and the rank swings like this weekend are really tough to take.

I was the same last season. I nearly didn’t play this season but the truth is I enjoy it mostly. So I feel your pain.

I played this season but only if I stuck to some rules -

No transfers til the day the gameweek starts.

No social media or Podcasts except boards.

The fantasy football scout podcast for team news which is usually on a Friday/Saturday just before the gameweek starts is allowed.

On Twitter I follow Ben Dinnery (could be any injury expert and I would rather find a different guy because Ben advertises gambling, I think)

Carry the FT. Use bench if needs be.

I mostly use the eye test so no social media really helps me make my own decision. And there’s nothing on social media/podcasts you don’t already know.

It allows me, if I choose, to not look at FPL during the week.

I usually make a note of what I want to do at the end of a gameweek when stuff is still fresh in my head and then hopefully execute just before the gameweek starts.

My biggest gripe (with myself) so far this season is that I’m still paying attention to EO. If I play next year I will delete my bookmark for effective ownership. I hate making decisions because of it.

I can always take the pain when it was my decision but if I’ve been influenced, and it goes wrong, then I find that very hard to take.

edit - I have made FT’s earlier in some cases but only if no games are to be played

I've a very addictive personality, been a few things in my life that I've got into, then let it consume far too much of my life, one of which definitely was Fantasy Football. Weekends I spent far too much time checking scores, reading the Matchday Thread, Apple have a feature on iPhone that shows how much time you've spent on your phone per day. When I saw how much time I was wasting on Saturday/Sundays, something had to change. I'm playing a lot more passively these days. Cutting away from the Content Creators was a big step, they make money of wasting your time.

I think the content creators through podcasts is a positive medium. Through social media/online not so much (far too much refreshing and checking things). I started walking 3 hours a day at the start of the lockdowns (badly needed it to help drop a few pounds), and consuming FPL content while being physically active doesn't feel addictive or negative at all. Would typically listen to 4 FPL podcasts a month, but its never done indoors.

Defo important to find a way to make FPL as an enhancement to the rest of your life rather than taking away from it (particularly for people with kids etc)

Wow, I just checked the live scores for the first time this GW to see I am safe :), when Wilson got hooked at Half time I thought it would surely be over.

degan55 is favourite for the drop but if his captain salah scores 9 or more then he overtakes Kloparamma.

I think it's only if he scores exactly 8 or 9 points and Robertson completely blanks that you come into it.

Yeah up until the last minute I had Nunez (c) Salah (VC) based on a gut instinct. Bottled it and switched them around, to play safe and match up with some potential others in LMS
