Sold a car and log book got lost in post

So I sold a car 6 weeks ago and the logbook never went to the buyer. Shannon said it must have been lost and advised that all I can do is order a replacement and do the change of ownership again. Can I get in trouble if the new owner is caught driving with no tax or does anything else with the car? I know toll charges and speed van fines will come straight to my door but I would appeal those if I had to but I'm more concerned with accidents etc.
