Sounds like you played Dysmantle? If not, I recommend that. Took 80+ hours out of me. Did it in hours long sessions but also a few short sessions. Nice exploration game.

I want to say Subnautica, but I don't think its a 30min sesh type game. You'll want to keep playing!

Hades is perfect for short games. And one of the best roguelike games out there. Dead Cells too. Ratchet and Clank maybe? It's generous with the auto saves.

When I stopped playing CoD, Rocket League has since scratched that itch. And free is always good.

Thumper can be played in spurts, has enough depth if you do want to kick it on a bit. Similar story with games like Isaac or Gungeon — runs average about 45 minutes but can shortened/lengthened depending on your mood.

The game you’re referring to sounds like The Touryst. Nice, short, focused little puzzle / adventure game that’s a bit of a technical powerhouse despite its modest appearance.

Slay the Spire which was free recently on PS+. It's surprisingly addictive.

Cuphead is a tough but beautiful game that’s fun in short bursts.

Lego Builder’s Journey is a great little puzzler.

I’ve also recently played Tandis on PC which is a mind bending maths puzzle game.

If you want OG pick up and play, you can't do much better than Sonic Mania. Proper remake of the classic Sonic games with a superb twist.
