gaming controls for PC

my son is just getting started playing games. right now we are using the w s a d keys, and whatever else you need to use on the keyboard. im impressed enough how he has gotten used to them, but i would like to get him a couple of good gaming controls for the PC, like you get for a PS, or similar. Not wired either...would have to be bluetooth for the set up we have in our house. i looked on amazon but the reviews of what they have there were not inspiring tbh. anyone have any good suggestions?

Mouse and keyboard is still by far the best way to play FPS and TPS games.

As for a controller, get one of the XBox controllers with a charging unit. They are more expensive but honestly it's money well spent. It's a solid controller, no faffing with drivers and the like and much better built than any third party ones you could get.

You could also look into getting a better mouse and keyboard for gaming. Digital Foundry do a great list of the best gaming peripherals for PC:

solid advice Retr0gamer. i'll look into all that. didn't know xbox controllers were compatible. we're only playing some of the lego games right now and i just think the controllers would be easier to use, but saying that, he's never used a controller so is happy using the keyboard.
