Duty Free Ireland to England to USA

I am flying to the US with a connecting flight in London. My mother has asked me to get her cigarettes in the duty free. Can I buy a 200 box in Dublin airport on the way out and bring them back home with me again to Ireland?

You can't re-import items you buy duty free back into Ireland. You can buy them in the US airport for your return flight though

I have done it countless times. I have also finished the duty free in a hotel in the Uk (pre-brexit), before the onward flight to Iceland.
