IABA upper age limit for national competition?

We're not in the eighties any longer.

The population lives longer and healthier, performs better much much farther into later life than historical generations.

Oz, there is no upper age limit. You want to box, you can box.

The current upper age limit to compete in the national stadium is, 35, or 40... ?

IABA really needs to consider taking boxers on a more case by case basis cause I know dudes in the later 40's even early 50's than run rings around many of this generations younger athletes.

    Thoughts?

IABA follow IBA (formerly AIBA) rules.....the new age limit is 41 I believe. It used to be 34, then went to 40 via AIBA. Now at 41 with IBA. 41 was allowed for 2021 Tokyo for mean and women

There wil always be some exceptions as you describe, but these rules cannot pick and choose what may and may not be an exception, They are in place for the general population.

    Oh, well that's an improvement.

Here's to hoping they're revised again shortly and bumped to...... 45..... ?

I'd settle for 45 for the time being.

But yes as you're outlining it's defined by the world council......

**furiously researches for their twitter page or other social media contact to prepare an age-limit petition**

You might indeed "know dudes in the later 40's even early 50's than run rings around many of this generations younger athletes" but that doesn't mean they should be allowed into the ring with "Elite" level 22 year old boxers for a competitive bout.

Unfortunately the brain deteriorates over time ,

So as fit as those 40 or 50 year olds are it becomes less and less safe to take shots to the head the older you become , ,
