    https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/irelands-new-social-welfare-payment-27216118

Is this payment worth applying for or what's going on with it. Just seen them debating in Dail on news and seems unclear

I do meet a lot of the criteria but it's never been mentioned to me before.

Like it says it covers fuel/heating expenses. I buy in bulk and usually pay round this time of the year for fuel as it would be cheaper. I am below the income thresholds also.

So is it worth applying to them???

It's worth contacting the Community Welfare Officer surely. Be prepared to have 6 months bank statements though as they are heavily means tested. You might have to make an appointment to seem them depending on where in the country you're based.

    Fair enough

I was going to tell them no banks or saving lol

They'll get to have a good nose so. Rules me out in all honesty I think. I have savings even though its pressed against a loan. They will still know i have it. Good will terms from the bank after losing job not to let money go below certain amount. Just their security but not security if you get me

I'm wondering is this a separate thing from Exceptional means payment @Necro

It looks like it's a new payment and no appointment necessary but I'd assume there would be a requirement of documentation, proof of earnings , savings etc . Open to employed and those on SW .

I think there's a lot of confusion re the two different support payments or have they scrapped the exceptional needs payment for this new one 🤔 Thanks

OP , I posted a link above for what's required for this payment, absolutely apply but as Neco mentioned ( alot more experienced than I) you'll probably have to supply documentation.

I was a little confused between exceptional needs payment and this new additional Needs payment or are they now one in the same 😏

Actually, I'll post the link here

Oh I was going to supply them with stuff anyway. I'm not working and just getting standard weekly payment. Have been since January.

    But I'm fooked for savings

My winter fuel purchases normally get me through this period plus then I'm able to go and get next winter's supply pretty much right now because of the normally low seasonal prices but that's not a runner this year anyway

Come the actual winter price in all probability will up even further.

not really, i still owe the money. if they want the savings they can have the debt too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,108 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

I'm afraid you'll need to disclose everything, I didnt see your comment about savings and yes that would be taken into consideration.

It's important to understand Revenue have details of most bank accounts and even newer digital banks require your PPS number so it always prudent to be totally honest and upfront , especially with DSP

    True

Though the loan was based on earnings and would never have been given to me without some sort of security and work.

If it does come down to it can always show them the loan repayments and say here, its coming out of that, and that I'm not working and it would never have been given to me in my current circumstances.

Who knew the back end was going to fall out of it like this

Yes , Loan payments (obligations) will be considered so just be upfront , all you can do is apply and see how it goes .

I haven't heard anything about a new payment but also bear in mind that they announced the Enhanced IB one evening after office hours so the politicians will do one thing before the department even knows about it 🤣🤣 So there very well may be another payment in the next few days!

The ENP as you say has always been there it's just very hard to get as the criteria is very strict.

There has been an addition to the information available via Citizens advice in relation to the Additional needs payment in relation to household income, I believe this might offer some more clarity towards eligibility for the the payment. Of course every application will be taken on a case by case basis. The details of what will be required to start the application process is at the end of the page. Hope this is of some help.

Wouldn’t this money be better invested to create employment or get people working than just another handout on top of the weekly handout.

Wouldn't it be better you stop this trolling on the States Benefits forum, you do enough of this disturbing SW bashing across the site .

Whilst OP has clarified they have savings , after initial post and certainly won't qualify for this payment, there are both working , SW recipients and people on illness /Disability payments struggling at the moment (as has been pointed out to you numerous times on various Thread's were you vent your distain for those less fortunate)

Not a single contribution from you has been positive or helpful, you take Zero consideration for other posters struggles or situations and it's, disgraceful frankly.

Your entitled of course to vent your anger and snide commentary here but I'm equally entitled to call you out on it , albeit clearly many see what your up to. Try be at least constructive and maybe, just maybe show some respect, you know nothing of people's personal situations.

No doubt I'll be seeing ,more of your nonsense later, somewhere on Boards today .

As you well know, you don't need to worry about me, you equally know what I'm talking about.

Final word on this is fix the problem rather than band aid it.

Agreed, Government have many problems to fix including the fact such a payment is needed in the first place nd not just those on SW payments.

    Have a productive day 😏

Well said, I had quite enough of this individuals snide and quite disgraceful comments, nothing constructive to add, quite extraordinary comments they'd not dare repeat in this forum.

I'm absolutely supportive of debate, discussion and criticism were it's warrented but this constant kicking of people without a second of thought for people's struggles is intolerable.

I don't pretend to have all the answers but my god is it so difficult to show just a little respect and compassion for others. Poster didn't anticipate posters like me and many others who are active on Boards and for years calling out their nonsense 😏

I told you I had work to do, different story with you. You said you’re at work, how can you be getting work done if you are dossing online all the time? Genuine question.

I thought you were busy. Unfortunately for you, I work on projects very early 4am to 8am, follow up some stuff in the afternoon and late evening, we don't all work on irish time and gosh, I get notifications on Boards, who'd of thought and its only courteous of me to reply to quotes (albeit not always a courteously I'll admit) 😏
