passport expiry just after travel

Hi, Just thought i'd check here if anyone has experienced this. My daughters passport is out of date 2 weeks after we travel home, has anyone experienced problems with this, have people telling me the passport needs to be in date 3 months etc. However I contacted Ryanair and they said as long as its in date on time of travel. I have visions being turned away from the gate!! We are travelling Dublin to Bergamo.

Fairly certain every country has their own rules around it. I'd be contacting an embassy about the situation before the airline as it will be an agent of that embassy checking you passport on arrival and not the airlines!

While countries have their own rules, the EU rules are EU wide. Valid up to and including the return date. People need to start correcting the bs 3 months thing for Europe

I think a lot of that narrative is coming about because of Brexit and the UK are now falling foul of the individual requirements of Spain or whatever ….. a lot of those UK headlines seep into news-feeds here. Always best to do your own research … or ask on Boards 😀

From memory a lot of people were getting caught out because some places (France?) don't recognise passports issues more than 10 years ago, so the (i think) upto 6 months that got transferred when passports were renewed early no longer counted.

yea, but they were brits who are now considered the same as someone from USA or Australia or Japan, so they are on a visa waiver and get the passport stamped in and out and cant stay for more than 90 days etc etc etc. - and part of that whole NON-EU entry regime is that your passport cannot be older than 10 years.

For Irish, i.e. EU passport holders, you just need a valid passport for your trip.

if there wasnt so much overlap of media between UK and Ireland you wouldnt even know there was an issue, because for us there isnt one
