Fishing at Blackrock, Dublin

Hi, just curious if anybody has, in recent times fished at Blackrock, Dublin near the old swimming baths. i am aware that there are designated swimming areas on the south side of the baths but there is a nice flat path on the north side which is perfect for setting up a tripod etc. Lovely clean ground, seems perfect for flatties and perhaps bass. I have had a look at various times of the day and havnt seen anybody swimming on the north side of the baths. A search of the DLRCC website was no help. I know the baths are an attraction for graffiti artists and al fresco drinking and I probably wouldnt be comfortable on my own down there if things got a bit lively. Any help/advice welcome.

I never tried as I assumed the entire strand is included in the Beach Bye Law but not fully sure...

Yep, I never tried it either, just back fishing after many years away. As I mentioned the DLRCC website is no help, only interested in keeping dogs off beaches. I was curious because you could get an extra bit of distance by going out to the outer wall of the old baths providing there wasnt a big swell going. Just worried about the can and flagon drinkers who seem to congregate around there.

I live close by and had a look at the back of B'town Dart station. Seems less busy than B'rock. Would like to chuck a few lures for bass alright.

I'm gonna try some mack/squid/lug cocktails on an incoming tide, maybe 2 hours before full and 1 hour after just on the north side of the baths, will let you know how I get on

Are you sure it's clean bottom there? Scotsman bay, from what I have heard is tackie graveyard. I could easy be wrong.

Late 90's a pair of us tried spinning at full tide off Williamstown (midway between Booterstown and Blackrock with access over a bridge with the tracks below) - total waste of time as every cast caught nothing but seaweed.

I heard of a few old hands who put baited nightlines a good distance out at low tide off Booterstown and checked the following day, seemingly they caught the occasional bass

If you look up the beach bye laws 2012, schedule 2, part 4 you will find the areas where fishing is prohibited in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. Picture attached. Tight lines.

Thanks for that, unfortunately the quoted "See attached map in yellow" does not exist in the bye laws !!, typical DLRCC. A visit to County Hall is on the cards methinks.
