I want to be able to get on a bicycle take to the road and go a short distance initially and then gradually build up an exercise regime from there with the bicycle. Been a senior citizen could some of you good people suggest to me a suitable make of bicycles which I could use on this adventure.

    Try the cycling forum.

Really I'd say initially any bike be good. I spent first couple years cycling as an adult on a 15 year old mountain bike. 30mins on a bike is 30mins on a bike. Build to an hour. I built to a 20km spin in just over an hour and then looked at a road bike.

Get yourself a decent comfy helmet, front and back lights, some comfy underware and off you go. Spare tube, frame pump and tyre levers.

To me for the first 6 months a bike is a bike. Needs a few gears, say 8 min, and everything working. Adverts, done deal, cycling forum ads, try to make sure it's legit.

You like it. Spend money on a road bike, or gravel bike
