Anyone have dispute cases escalated to the simi tribunal. Curious to know how you got on. I'm sceptical they are just a way of brow beating you into a corner that favours the dealer but unfortunately have to give it a go. I believe they have a 'consumer representative' at the tribunal.

Someone on here got sorted as a result of SIMI intervention, can’t remember what the craic was, think it was a crashed car sold to them or something

Bought a 2020 car. Discovered it was previously damaged and cheaply repaired. Gonna cost 5k to fix. Garage want to refund me the car. I'm not keen on this cuz prices have gone crazy and it's gonna cost me considerably more to buy a like for like car or buy the same kind of car I traded in which is long gone. I just see a thing on the receipt that more or less I've confirmed all damage on the car and that the sale of goods act is not valid...so far I haven't been filled with confidence by their mediation service. All they doing is sending my emails to the dealer and back and my opinion (right or wrong) is they will make a decision that is lowest cost to the dealer and gets the problem off the table regardless of the outcome for the customer

You wont get more than you originally paid even in the best case scenario, they have already offered you the max you could ever expect?

What you’ve been offered is a win win. You’ve gotten free ownership of the car for a number of months with zero depreciation and the garage gets to re sell the car and won’t make a loss. Its win win.

I see your frustration but the cost of cars have increased recently and I don’t think you deserve special treatment over everyone else. Nobody in Ireland can buy a like for like car of what they bought 1 or 2 years ago so I don’t think you should expect any different.
