Lashing rain here in NCD since 11am.

Between 17c and 18c across south Laois now, sunshine out in force after a cloudy start that lifted to partly cloudy after 10am.

Feels cool enough though. Although, out of the slight breeze and in the direct sunshine it's pleasant.

Much nicer feel to the sun the last couple of days compared to the humid and hot obsenity of last week.

The west sounds much sunnier than the east both yesterday and today. Just wall to wall blanket of low hanging cloud here for the past 48 hours and feeling noticeably chilly, there is spits of drizzle falling too. Temperature just 14C, shockingly bad for mid August.

Drought is not over in some pockets of the country. Some parts have managed to see no rain over the last few days. I just can't see them getting up to 40mm of rain between here and Tuesday

Looking at the 1.15pm sat loop and I see the cloud hugging the normally sunny east coast strip. Good news is that it looks like fizzling out soon.

Back here, temperatures have risen a degree in the last half hour.

Already though the high cloud from tonight's front is spilling into the west.

Lovely day in cork city. Warm and dry

Glorious day in Limerick, clear blue sky since dawn. I really need to stop looking at the forecasts and just take each day as it comes

Almost clear over southern Laois, but can see thin high cloud belonging to tonight's forecast weather front gathering on the western horizon.

Between 20c and 21c in a very light NNE breeze.

Lovely and sunny here in Carrick 20c but rain coming in over mayo so that won't last

Lovely day today in Laois. 21c, nice sunshine.

There'll be plenty of nice weather between now and 30th September. Even the wet days it generally won't be raining for all daylight. You'll get a morning or evening out of it if you plan well.

October nearly always has a week or 10 days of nice 15-18c weather too.

Drove down the M1 around noon today and it was miserable rain. Spent the day in Naas then and it was a beautiful afternoon there in the end. East coast lost out today really .

Have all the leaves come off some trees in Ireland? Looks more like late October in East London.

I think that's because of the hot weather lately, no growth etc

Great chances of seeing the Northern lights tonight and tomorrow night, bloody cloud in the way

Cloudy and breezy at the moment with the sun starting to break out,got a slight mist this morning, barely enough to wet the ground. Certainly got none of this rain that was forecasted

Another day of grey overcast skies and spits of drizzle but at least we've lost the chill of the past 2 days, however the wait for the sun to appear goes on.

Phoenix park is looking much more like this earlier this year than usual. Lots of leaves down too, was only thinking the other day it felt like September in there

The 5 day drought is over...we will now be drowned in rain for the next 8 months or more as usual...no climate change here anyway

With over 3 feet of rain a year on average and over 6 feet or more in moutainous areas...sure its no wonder we have a water shortage after a few days of sun

after a horrible morning and early afternoon with sideways drizzle and mist it's clearing up now with some warm spells of sunshine and temperature of 22C.

Didn't Greece or Italy have that exact thing last year

Nice late summers day in Laois today, 20c or so. I've avoided rain showers so far.

And look, they even have a photo of a young woman holding an unbrella in the rain 😦😲😲

    Terrifying stuff.

I'm just imagining I lived in a cabin in Ireland around 1720 and spent most of my life outdoors.

I was told that in 300 years time in Ireland 'journalists' or those who wrote for newspapers would warn people all over the country about a normal wet and breezy day in August. 1700s man would surmise that the men and women of the future would surely die out for being so soft and pampered.

As Friday is the first day of the weekend I must say the brutal weather we had today was terrifying in Sligo. Over 1mm of rain and 8 hours of sunshine and temperature of 19c.

Tonight might be wet a while but just some showers tomorrow.
