Most undervalued cryptocurrencies in 2022 - your opinions?

Hey all!

I came across this forum here and absolutely love it! I have so many different hobbies and interests and simply like to discuss about those topics. For most of the things I like there are people around me that do it as well, what makes it easier to have discussions about photography for example. But unfortunately I have no one to talk about cryptocurrencies. I read a lot about it and also hold some of the top coins. But from time to time I think about maybe also investing in smaller coins. I read about very forward-looking crypto ideas, so I thought this could be a nice topic to discuss… What are your most undervalued cryptocurrencies in 2022? Have you come across great ideas no one knows about?

These kinds of forums are good for that, I also like to discuss certain things online because I get to escape my own bubble of opinions a little bit.

Personally, I think it’s a good idea to be ready to invest in smaller, lesser known, coins as well, or as you said: undervalued. Because yes, its risky, but at the same time you might be able to score the next Ethereum before everyone gets on board ;) I like to read about new concepts in the crypto field as well, and I think there are some very promising things coming up now, that would be worth looking into more closely. One cryptocurrency with big potential in my opinion is Idena, if you haven’t heard about it, I’d recommend doing some research on it. Their approach of the blockchain is a lot more sustainable than what I’ve seen so far. But would be keen to know other recommendations as well!

Solana, by far the fastest and most daily active users. Transactions are cheap and fast. Two metrics to look at is where the developers are going and who has the most active wallet addresses. Interesting to see Near is attracting developers too. I’ve picked up a bit. Both are at a good price now, could easily 5x if things come back this year. Just keep in mind the smaller the market cap the higher the risk.

Where do you find figures on daily active users and number of developers working on the different chains? Would be interesting to see a comparison between them all. Solana has loads of potential and is brilliant when everything is working correctly, but still has too many basic reliability issues that need to be fixed before I could fully trust it longer term. Hopefully all those new devs are working on this. Lots of potential though.

The Solana network has been paused again. Has more outages than the North Korean power grid.

You have to get in while crypto cost pennies. I bought few bitcoins in 2012 just out of curiosity for 5 dollars each. Sold them last year and paid off my house.

It is not really a strategy you can reproduce though is it? It is like buying wildly out of the money options and then some external event causing a huge price move.

They are usually linked on the crypto news sites. Keep in mind you would need to check multiple reports from multiple sources to verify these and analytics can be manipulated too.

I’ve been using it when the service is degraded and it’s still faster than eth. It’s still in beta so there are risks. It does need more decentralisation though.

The strategy is fairly simple, buy when market is low, ok in a lot of Bitcoin stories it is just opportunistic luck, but there is a genuine strategy in buying when confidence is low and being patient.

Very low I'd imagine, I'm not talking about 1000x strategy here, in the current climate it shouldn't be too difficult to purchase and double your money in the not too distant future.

Why hasn’t it pumped during the last bull markets? I’ve only heard good things, so don’t see a reason for it’s low price. The only thing I can see is early investors cashing out, but I’d expect them to buy back at lower prices.

So, you think the percentage of market participants purely looking for the price to go up is low? What is everyone else buying for? I would say the majority of retail is buying and hoping it goes up. There will of course be market makers in there as well just trading volume, I think that would be mainly prop trading firms doing that.

I think the average person is probably just trading with a few k that they can afford/or not to lose. A lot of it is probably related to the whole community thing, feeling part of something, "We're all gonna make it" etc. They look at what people who bought it very early have made and are hoping for the same, you see a lot of that type of thing on WSB with equities. For a lot people, particular the younger crowd, the idea of investing in something that might only give 7% annually is not that appealing, they are all looking for the home run.

In property at least you have the asset. This is not the case with shares. They can go to zero.

Most businesses will have assets, so would be unlikely to go to zero. You can buy a broad market equity ETF (physically backed). Property might also have structural issues that would make it worthless.
