GoMo WiFi calling

Just got an email from GoMo saying WiFi calling now available for all.

Enabled it on a OnePlus 6 and Poco f1. I had to enable it using some backend workarounds on both phones to make the option visible in settings. It's enabled but not actually working on either phone. Asks me to turn off airplane mode or if that's off tells me I have no phone signal.

Prob a specific phone issue. Anybody got it working on another Android?

It's up and running for me on a Redmi K30pro running xiaomi.eu miui 12. I had to enable the WiFi calling option via the dialler code *#*#869434#*#* Once you dial, you'll get a small notification saying “Vowifi carrier check was disabled.

Then into SIM settings to switch it on and select mobile/WiFi preference.

Glad that the dialler code helped get ye all sorted folks. Reminds me of my days as an O2 guru 😁

For the OnePlus, I haven't ever used them but a few options.

Open your dialler, enter *#8000# and see if it lists "vowifi" as available.

If it doesn't show? The steps on the following may help get it sorted.

I also got the email a few days ago. OnePlus 7T but cannot enable it. The *#800# brings me to a different screen than in that article, just logs, no Function Switch.

When I go to Display>Status Bar>Icon manager I can see VoLTE and WiFi Calling switched on to appear in the status bar but they don't appear there.

Like the other OnePlus user *#*#869434#*#* does nothing for me.

I've had WiFi calling enabled for a while now on my Redmi. But still haven't managed to make a call through WiFi.

Have tuned aeroplane mode on and connected to WiFi, but when I try make a call, I get the following message

"Turn off areoplane mode or connect to a wireless network to make a call"

Has anybody been able to set-up WiFi calling on a Huawei Y7 Prime 2018 ?

VoLTE does not show in the settings.

I wish Google would stop being particular about what networks can use things like WiFi Calling on Pixels. Not having 5G doesn't bother me but WiFi calling would be very handy.

Wife's phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 7 but the option to turn on Wifi Calling is not visible anywhere.

Anyone met this problem and found a solution?

I gave in and bought a new cheap (€100) phone with wifi calling function, popped in the SIM and changed from VoLTE to Wifi Calling and all good.

Pity, but the facility was needed.

Update: VoWifi (Wifi calling) is great. After a couple of weeks use it is a pleasure to have full coverage for calls. No negatives as far as I can tell.

It was worth buying a compatible phone just to get this function.

The following applies to GoMo but is probably true for other mobile networks as well:

One thing to watch is that when you are abroad WiFi Calling routes calls back to Ireland on IP network and then emerges on the phone network as a call from Ireland so instead of a free roaming call within your bundle you may be charged for an international call from Ireland. Best to switch off WiFi calling when going abroad.

I bought a "Ulefone Note 13P" because it was advertised as having Wifi Calling. Even if it had turned out to be not compatible I would not have been too upset as it cost about €83.

I have not seen a list of VoWifi compatible phones.

I have no doubt there are better phones available at the price but we are very happy with this one.
