Mac help please!

    Looking for a MAC user/expert in Sligo area to advise me. Got a new iMac M1, bought an Apple Superdrive to play DVDs and CD Roms which I need for work- it won't accept discs. Can't connect it directly to computer as it's got a USB connection, so I've put it through a SABRENT AC/DC powered hub, but still no joy. The hub is OK for getting power to the scanner, but not for this. I am weeping with frustration as nothing about switching to this new computer has been easy or straightforward and I am not teccie. Is there anyone there who can advise me.
