Unblock sick drain

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend what to use to unblock the pipe in this sink. The stopper does not seem to screw off, so the usual thick gel type drain unblocker stuff that I have will not go down. Does anyone know of a more liquidy type substance that I could pour into the sink that would get under the stopper and into the pipe.

The water does eventually go down the drain after a minute or two.

    Thanks

I always use sodium hydroxide also known as caustic soda. It has never failed for me. You should be able to get it in any hardware shop.

Be sure to wear gloves and take extra care when mixing it. This stuff can cause severe skin burns.

Screw off the outlet under the sink and clear the gunk out.

Stay away from drain cleaners if at all possible. They rot the pipes. Start with a plunger. If that does nothing take apart the trap under the drain as the blockage could be here

I have the same type of stopper in our bathroom sink and it screws off. Yours might just be tight?

A plunger sorted it out nicely. Thanks for all the replies.
