    Morning all,

I just missed out on a comp win in a 9 hole stableford on count back.

I’m new to golf and not sure how a countback works on 9 holes so wondered if someone could help me understand.

    Thanks for your time!

AFAIK on countback its: back nine, then last 6, last 5, last 4, etc etc

It is up to the committee to set the terms of the competition, including the countback rules. This should be set in advance of the competition.

For an 18 hole competition the Rules of Golf recommend the following but each club can use a different system if they like.

    • Final 9 holes
    • If still a tie then use the final 6 holes
    • If still a tie then use the final 3 holes
    • If still a tie then use the 18th hole
