So just how much truth is there to all these marriage jokes?

You know the way you get guys making jokes about how whores actually work out cheaper in the long run, or playing "Another one bits the dust" being played at a stag night, and so on. These jokes are quite common. Is it just a case of the grass appearing greener on the other side? Because if you're not going to settle down, the alternative seems pretty bleak as you get older.

They are just stupid jokes and not linked to the real world. It's like the "keep your back against the wall, that fella is gay" joke, no one really believes that the gay lad is going to force himself on you. It's just a stupid joke

It's not getting married that changes you really, it's starting a family (which often follows marriage). You simply cannot dedicate the same amount of time to buddies and hobbies when you have small children - so these things tend to get put to one side.

If you're married and have no children, then nothing really changes.

To be honest, I love being married. I think people who make these types of jokes are either non-marriageable types or with the wrong person.

Marriage and children suit some people and not others, some people love having their life and spare time planned out in a routine, while others love freedom to go where they want when they want and having the world as thier oyster.
