Signing for credits but need to get illness benefit

I'm unemployed with 18 months, I've done the 9 months Jobseekers and am just signing for credits now. I'd love to go back to work but lately I'm not feeling well between back problems and weight issues I am unfit for work now.

I have spoken to my GP and he believes my weight is causing the issues but it'll take time to sort out as he wants to put me on medication first. Would I be able to get illness benefit until I get sorted or does the fact that I have already drawn Jobseekers take away my entitlement to it?

What were you doing in 2020 as in exactly what payment were you on or were you working?

I was working until August that year (2020), then I was on Jobseekers after that for the next 9 months

Then you should be ok for Illness benefit. Your GP has the forms and will put through an electronic cert for you if he/she agrees that you are unfit for work. You fill in the actual form and post that away.

Thanks, I've an appointment with him on Tuesday so hopefully I can get it sorted
