What was your good deed for the day?

My wife and I were in our car with our son. She was driving this time. The car behind tipped, very gently, into the back of ours. The driver just came off the clutch.

I got out to check my car and no visual damage done. The girl behind had L on her car and was in tears. She was unaccompanied, she was about 18 y/o. A passing Garda (on bicycle) stopped and I thought fast.

I told the Garda that I was accompanying her and pretend I was never in our car. The Garda accepted my word and left after I said we’d sort it among ourselves.

I saved the girl the hassle of penalty points and car seizure.

I gave her my number to sort out any potential hidden damage outside of insurance. Her dad rang me ecstatic and couldn’t thank me enough for “saving her skin”.

    What’s your good deed?

You saved her from the consequences of her own actions. Next time she forgets how to use a clutch, because she's not experienced enough to be driving alone, there might be a pedestrian or a cyclist under her front wheel.

Returned a letter that had been delivered here in error.

I encouraged people to post in AH to prevent me holding the only posts on the entire AH front page- I got to (final edit) 20/30 posts in threads, all in a row, which is actually just sad coz in its heyday you couldn't even manage 3 or 4 without a quick reply.

Can we start a "let's count to a million" thread or is that allowed here?

Took an hour and walked around every path and byway of our local town.

Made a mental note of all the clumps of Japanese Knotweed springing into life.

I'll hit them with Roundup in September.

My good deed was reporting this to the authorities. 😳

In all fairness that one fright may make her a far better driver! My daughter was pulled once by gardai for overtaking badly, gave her such a fright she is ultra careful since and that was many years ago! Young people do foolish things but a lesson like that might be the best thing ever.

I actually did a good deed yday :) I wrote a letter to social welfare in reply to a very long complicated looking letter they received for someone just not able for that craic!
