I would like to check / confirm the number of pubs in Athenry.

    I count eight.

    Northgate street = 4

Old Church street = 2: the Fields and J. Glynn's

Davis street = I think it's called the Central Bar, or is it called Glynn's?

Cross street = 1, the Square Inn.

That makes 8, am I missing any?

    Plus two hotels.

Plus the Old Barracks on Cross street - is that a pub?

    Thanks.

The Old Barracks only does "bottled beer/wine" with meal kind of thing

There is a pizza and cocktails place after opening right across from the barracks and operated by them too afaik

I haven't been in Hanberrys since Covid but it was open till then. I thought I saw lights on in it recently when I drove by. Also Raheen Woods Hotel and New Park Hotel.

Northgate Street: The Northgate, Dan’s, Dowlings and….?

I think there’s one there that’s closed, at least I haven’t seen it open in a long time.

The Skillet Inn, it was open in December, I was in it then.

I managed to visit 7 of the 8 pubs in the last year or so.

I missed the pub that was at the arch on Northgate street, it closed and is now a cafe.

However, I now hear reports that Hanberry's pub on Swan Gate is open at the weekend.

Is that true? Would it be open at 6pm on a Friday?

    Thanks.

I am not in a rush back to the Square Inn or the Central Bar, although I admit that I was in them for just one pint.

The Skillet Inn was quiet. I liked the other two on Northgate street.
