On this Musk "salute", it doesn't look very military to me. Looks quite sloppy even. So I might be wrong, but I think he was trying for an energetic "Usain Bolt" type gesture.

I mean, the idea that he's a secret Nazi who's trying to bring back Nazism by means of public gestures seems a bit bonkers to me.

Time will tell I suppose.

It may well have been an unfortunate coincidence but it is almost identical to a Nazi salute. At the very minimum it shows a gross lack of any self awareness / control for someone in a position of responsibility, now within government.

What I believe is he was actively but instinctively signalling to the far right base. He impulse control short circuited by his ego. Do I believe that means he is a Nazi - probably not. Its more "this is my way to keep the hard right thinking we are within them", when this entire project is about his ego and power and wealth.

Also, the Nazi salute was not about the military. It was about signalling that people were in the "in-group" initially and ultimately submission to Nazi control once they were in power

And I wouldn't consider this to be out of character at all. He pushed extreme conspiracy theories during the election, seems to actively be interested in saving bloody Infowars and seems to believe he represents some kind of a master race. You just have to look at the likes of Peter Thiel who was also spent much of his life in South Africa, Thiel viewed the apartheid era government to be effective. So the oligarchs very much so have plenty of extreme views.

Maybe. The former suggestion (poor impulse control) is plausible TBF. Like when he called the British diver "pedo-guy" because he was angry at his "brilliant" idea being knocked down. I just think the more extreme "Woooah we are heading into a new Nazi era" based on this sort of nonsense is silly and if anything probably counterproductive, is my main point.

Personally I'm waiting for the inevitable bust-up between two narcissistic egos: that will be hilarious to see IMO. If I were a betting woman, I'd put money on how long they will remain "friends". (I give them three months.)

Musk has already fallen out with Farage - but he isn't beholden to Farage in the way he is with Trump. So it will take longer.

Probably when people stop making false equivalences and disingenuous arguments in their quest to downplay the actions of someone whose words and actions have already emulated that of Nazis and facilitated same by actively providing them a platform.

Post videos that the images you posted came from. I mean the point about Musk wasn't just an image of an arm outstretched, it was the full action we saw and that he repeatedly did. Show that the people above did the same, and maybe you'll have a point.
