Getting a bit minced here. Scrum and counter rucking all Exeter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Woodburn is some little shite

Keep the ball away from him, he's flying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,455 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Breakdown is a bit of a mess for Munster. So many penalties given away on their own ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,710 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Chris Farrell is having a bit of a mare today. Has been targeted by Exeter's set piece attack a few times and caught flat footed in defence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    8 possessions. 8 errors.

They need to stop running away from support.

9 and 9 mess ups. This is incredibly frustrating. Working so hard on defense and nothing to show for it.

    Heroic from Murray.

Not sure entirely legal but will take it

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,111 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

We’ve scrambled well to keep this down to 5 points so far but that’s about the only thing we’ve done well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Exeter hitting rucks from the side, repeatedly.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,111 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

    High tackle there?

Munsters work at the ruck is so poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭clsmooth

Zero creativity in this Munster team. Where is a score coming from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Hogg standing offside at the ruck following the Daly chip and chase and tackles the 9.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Thank you TMO.

The only positive from this first half is its somehow only a 5 point game...JVG and co can get on their bike quickly enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Munster still in this by virtue of Exeter being useless in the redzone. Very poor all round

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,710 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Think that's the third penalty Munster have conceded by entering the ruck immediately off their feet.

Ref had no choice there. Absolutely terrible discipline.

Exeter territory stat must be huge.

    Munster could get hockeyed here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,710 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Immediately after the referee warns Munster about their repeated breakdown infringements, Jack O'Sullivan makes another one.

    Munster are playing brainless stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

9 penalties in 37 minutes of rugby

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,964 ✭✭✭TRC10

The only good thing about Munster is their defence. It's the only thing keeping them in this game. But it's only a matter of time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭Shehal

Side to side to side to side...penalty. And rinse repeat, what are the coaches doing on the training ground in regards to the attack? Just relying on an individual or 2 to make a break out of nothing, not exactly getting our value for money are we?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭Shehal

And Exeter score before half time, guess there are NO positives in that first half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭clsmooth

10-0 down and that flatters Munster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Lord when if ever was the last time Munster were scoreless at HT ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,253 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

First time I have Ever seen a warning after an offensive penalty.

Surely there's an Irish center that Munster could tempt away? Frawley maybe or one of the Ulster lads? They're so devoid of creativity

Very worrying the amount of territory in Munsters 5 Exeter had there, bunch of scores left behind.

That said Munster have been finishing games very strong this season so plenty still to go.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,111 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

Was it Racing or Castres a few season ago in Thomond that was 0-0 up until the 60-odd minute and Munster got a try thru Murray?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,214 ✭✭✭letowski

Munster are so poor. Have they had a single positive outcome in attack? So poorly coached. Discipline is shocking. Hard to see us keeping this close.

This is awful stuff from Munster(opps)

They should have dumped Van Grann a few years ago but certainly when he said he was leaving

Hard to see us winning this game. We are playing the same as last week against Leinster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

They said on BT it was 3 years ago against Glasgow in Scotsun.

Why would he want to play in this system? Problem with personnel isn’t at 12, it’s at 13. Farrell is a solid player but doesn’t offer much in terms of generating line breaks. It’s tuck the head down and maybe get an offload away. You don’t tend to see him going on the outside or putting his back 3 into space. I’d be playing him at 12 once DDA is off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

Farrell can offer a lot from attacking but thats not the game plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,710 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Chris Farrell is having a dreadful game.

even though boys on pitch are doing their best , hard to compete without the quality of

kilcoyne, Coombes, beirne, POM, Cloete, carbery, zebo, Conway, in the team and losing some of the backup, kendellan, Barron, .

will be doing well do keep it below 30 points today and get some players back next weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭clsmooth

I’ve heard this for years about him from the likes of Toland (big man with great hands etc) but haven’t seen much evidence of it to be honest. Not a patch on the likes of Ringrose and Hume with regards his attacking game.

At least a chunk of the yellow has been used up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

I watched him in France, he showed his skills then

Since he joined Munster he has Van Grann as a coach(apart from 1-2 of Rassie). Van grann is playing today the same "gameplan" he did in 2017

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Go on JOD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭Shehal

Being brutally honest here, this is a incredibly disappointing and dare I say it gutless performance from Munster. We are playing like a mid table top14 side that's out of Europe would play like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,455 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Munster offering very little in this game to this point, just defence. Insane that it's only 10-0, Exeter should have scored two or three more at this point.

If Munster can keep this one tight, get a score of their own, bring it back to Thomond you'd have to think they can do it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭clsmooth

It’s been offensively disappointing but they’ve showed plenty of guts to keep it to 10 at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,655 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Murray has done things in this game that casey will never be able to do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,718 ✭✭✭Former Former Former

    That's poor from Murray

First possession in ages and he just kicks it away
