WP: New Site Theme - approach opinion

    I'm doing a small agency-type WP site for a friend.

    Current site is a bit bloated and slow - not overly (IMO) but everyone wants a faster site.....

    I'm intending on simply replacing the theme and stripping out obsolete plugins and images etc rather than doing a full replace and fresh install of WP.

    Is there anything inherently wrong with this approach or anything I should be aware of??
