Just because you say it isn't conspiracy doesn't mean it isn't conspiracy.

    It is.

Ah, knew there'd be a member of the sleeping masses along, quite literally!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Oh yay! Someone has linked a You Tube video and said it's not conspiracy.

There definitely hasn't been way way too much of this rubbish over the last two years!

    Keep it coming!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

When something is in motion and actually happening, does that make it a conspiracy? No, I doubt it. What makes it so is you seeing something that doesn't match up with what is presented to you every day, or which maybe scares you to think about.

NBC is a "conspiracy website", right?! https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/crypto/us-government-digital-currency-rcna19248

Try to scratch beneath the surface a bit, apply some critical thinking and maybe consider for a moment - with everything going on - that the people in charge maybe don't have your best interests at heart.

There's Ryan pushing ahead with his carbon tax when people are really struggling. But hey no matter!

    No, you are just boring.

    You need some new material.

Bat shít Bingo has been exhausted on this one.

It sounds like you don't have the desire or perhaps capability to look at various (reputable) sources to assess what might greatly affect your life in the years to come. Sadly, it's a very common scenario these days. People just shut down what they fear or which doesn't sound like it could happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Dude, I could have predicted the clichés you'd come out with in response here. And to everyone else. You're one step away from telling people to "wake up". It's boring and it's played out. Covid is gone, you need to move onto something else to be paranoid about......... get over it! Move on with your life. Pubs are back open, clubs are back open, there are so many things you can do with your time instead of this! Join a club, take up knitting, start a sport!

Everyone else is, and nobody cares about this conspiracy nonsense!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

Lol, never mentioned Covid. Do you know that the Canadian government went and temporarily froze people's bank accounts recently, if they'd contributed to the trucker's protest. Do you know that in Canada you can't even get on a train or even LEAVE THE COUNTRY if you haven't been triple vaccinated? If you aren't shocked by that then you are indeed, passive, asleep and docile.

    conspiraloon nonsense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

    "I didn't even mention Covid...."

Then proceeds to go on a rant about Covid.

Get over it dude. It's not too late to apologise to your family and friends for being exhausting over the last two years. I've seen it. Friends of mine who were obsessed by this stuff have turned it around and gotten their mind back in recent months. You can do the same.

    Move on with your life.

I know someone who says 'watch this or that video' - these lads are the real experts, professors and really know their stuff .. yadda, yadda.

You take a quick look and realise that their 'Reasonable' is completely & utterly daft. Even if a scintilla was based on reality, the warped distortion of the presentation wouldn't get past a 7 year old.

This means the state could monitor and control what you spend your money on........eh the monitoring part has been done for decades, not only by governments but by portfolio managers willing to buy the data. I'm fine with it, I don't believe they can eliminate choice and control you spending as your suggest.

The people who complained the most about covid lock downs, masks and not being able to go out to the pub etc are the ones that never went out before covid, not going to change now the restrictions that they said would be permanent are now gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

Eh, actually that's all wide of the mark. Lol, why do you think I went on a rant about Covid when a) that was by no means a rant, and b) you aren't comprehending the wider issues clearly. And actually I've only started taking a good look at this this financial area and the encroaching totalitarianism demonstrated by multiple world leaders recently. You probably think there's nothing wrong with Macron saying he wants to "make life difficult for the unvaccinated", or Trudeau saying he admires the dictatorship of China (where they have "social credit").

Or the unelected WEF calling for a "Great Reset"?

If you do, you should take another look.

No I'm all good thanks. But carry on in living in your bubble :)

In short, a digital currency regulated by a country's central bank can and will most likely will lead to "programmable money", especially if / when it is coupled with Universal Basic Income.

The currencies of most countries are currently controlled by the central banks. If the government wanted to restrict you access to your money they could.

The vast majority of money is also already digital. Whatever amount of money you have in the bank, there isn't actually a pile of money with your name on it. It exist on a digital ledger. It's not physical currency.

There is maybe 1 Trillion euro worth of euro physically currency. The total wealth of the zone countries is maybe 50-60 Trillion. So about 2% of money "exists". The rest is digital, that you have absolutely zero personal control over.

    You really aren't.

You should check back in with your family and reconnect.

Can you imagine the Whatsapp groups going on behind your back?

Anyway, I wish you well. This thread will be rightly nuked soon enough. 🤜

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

Lol, Boggles the mind how blind people can be ;-) It probably will be nuked because people can't handle the idea of nuance, critical thinking or anything that feels like it's diverging from what they read everyday. Debate and discourse doesn't happen, it just gets shuts down because ooh...sounds like conspiracy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

Thanks for the first considered response Mellor, I had higher hopes for a "Current Affairs" forum, but the standard so far is indicative of the average person today.

I agree and am aware of what you say above. However, CBDCs and programmable currency are different. While your bank balance may be digital, you can still go to the bank and withdraw your money, even if you may need to give them notice. With CBDCs, you are talking about complete control and centralisation. Your money is only digital, tied to a digital ID, and can / could be controlled centrally and could even expire! Have a look at this from Ukraine of all places!

Have a read of this to get a flavour and ask yourself why could they possibly need to know your vaccination status? https://www.kmu.gov.ua/en/news/sogodni-oficijnij-start-proektu-yepidtrimka-yak-podati-zayavku-na-otrimannya-1000-grn-u-zastosunku-diya

It's easy to see how poorer people in particular could be enticed to sign up for this with the promise of "free money", especially with the way things are with the cost of living, etc.

Here's a funny one (really). If you trust a guy like Klaus Schawb has your best interests at heart...

Another Einstein who thinks he is far superior intellectually to the people who are "asleep" so he is trying to "wake up" the people so they can get to his understanding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

    Well that's not me.

Why not engage on the clear issues instead?

  • Check I've got "Sleeping Masses" on my someone has gone off the deep end bingo card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 964 ✭✭✭riveratom

Nope, but it's a good description. Most people have little desire to look beyond what's presented to them / the standard narrative. That's why you just dismiss anything that sounds different to what you're used to. It's just easier.

Thinking for yourself is more fun and interesting, and can open your eyes to the world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

A Klaus Schwab reference and a You Tube link, all in the one post.

I find it hilarious that the ones who go on about "Critical Thinking" have absolutely no original ideas and must gather all of their data from cranks on You Tube.

Again, dude, give it up. It's over! Nobody cares! Go hug your family.

What's over? You think I'm on about Covid conspiracies, right? That just shows how oblivious you are, just like Boggles above who goes straight to attacking what he most likely fears, or is too lazy to try and get an insight into.

YouTube is actually great for connecting the dots, as it gives you instant access to wide variety of people talking about the one topic. So it's easy to connect the dots and identify patterns.

Do you know anything about the WEF and its agenda?

Looks like you have seen the light OP

Don't worry though. The rest of us can continue to stumble around in the darkness that Brexit seemed to start, with a main course of Covid and the possible end of the World topping it all off
