If you know someone with Vodafone, they get multiple unlocks per year. I've unlocked loads of phones through my mother-in-laws account.

Contact Vodafone, provide the IMEI of the device(s), and request that they remove the network lock on the phone(s). Paid SIM unlock services for old phones or any phone that's out of contract are unnecessary and a waste of money.

Ok I know someone I can ask what do I do as they didn't buy the phone s I thought they would not unlock them.

Just log in to My Vodafone > Device and SIM > unlock your device (NAC).

You just need to provide the IMEI number of the device. Depending on the brand, it can be done instantly or it can take a few days.

It seems it's no longer free .

They are asking for 23 euro to unlock it.

It should be. IIRC they are legally obliged to do it if you have spent €100 on their network or the phone is over a year old. You can also get unlock codes on ebay for around €5 or less. If going that route, make sure you have the correct model phone and the correct provider and country.

I have a vague memory of ebay stopping them, so maybe they have moved to their own sites, I don't know any of these or have I read any reviews, but they might be worth a shot if you can't get them done the correct way. Try and look up reviews etc.

Just getting back to finish my thread on this I didn't get the phone s unlocked because I would have had to go back to owner of phones instead I got postfone Sims for them & they worked straight away no problems. The only thing I have to say about postfone if you are moving over your number for the free month deal they don't give you a temp number you have no service until your number moves over.So Don't leave yourself out of service.

Also I contacted an post mobile about this before I ordered there sim they told me I would have to get the phone's unlocked to use there service which i didn't . That is why I used a spare sim number to move over to try first to make sure it works. Postmobile have a better payasyougo deal than Vodafone anyway give all calls free instead of Vodafone to Vodafone.

Unfortunately, it's not widely known that networks will not just unlock phones tied to their networks, there's a process that requires owner of registered devices to request unlock codes directly and subject to terms and conditions to include appropriate amount of credit purchased prepay) and if contract phone, subject to being out of contract or minimum billing period reached and account was not subject to suspension (un paid or outstanding balance)

Android phones require a code and be easily got but be careful as if phone is Blacklisted codes may not wotlrk.

iPhones a different process completely that just doesn't require an unlock request by its registered owner subject to above conditions, the process may also require (if linked to an apple ID), that person to complete the process as unlocks with Apple, done through their servers.

I'd caution anyone against jail breaking (by passing apple unlock process).

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

I think they are trustworthy enough, if you look them up on ebay, you may still get one, or a store name. Possibly on adverts or donedeal. If they use paypal it might be worth chancing.

I have used the ones that were on eBay in the past.

Checked it with vodafone today, said would be 5 days for an iphone, up to 30 for a samsung...lot longer then i thought!
