A friend of mine imported a motorcycle from the UK. He garaged it and didn’t register it for a couple of years and when he did go to register it, he found the outstanding fines For having not registered the motorcycle within a few days of bringing it into the country made it too costly And not worth his while.

he has offered the motorcycle to me, and I am just wondering is there a way around this registration issue?

Send it back tvo the UK and sell it... I'm sure the outstanding motor tax will need to be paid...

You said he gave you the bike? Then it would seem the cost of purchase doesn't factor into this for you. It might be worthwhile paying the fines, getting it registered and using it... depends on the value you apply to it. I'm guessing it'll also be liable for VAT, VRT & Customs Duties...
