We needed to sand blast to remove several coats of paint, but now some of the texture is lost. These are not old handles, but the casting texture they had added some character to them.

Are there any clever methods to bring back some interesting texture to the surface? Is there any kind of acid you can leave cast iron parts in to bring up a texture on the surface?

Hammerite paint is out of the question as they are to be painted matt. Open to ideas.
