    Ms

I wonder did Hamilton say Alfa suites you Bottas or did he say anything at all?

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Looked like Mercedes used Russell to give Hamilton a tow to try and get him as close as possible to the front and Red Bull tried to use Max's pace to help.tow Perez higher up the grid.

Great lap by Bottas and it'll be interesting to see how he does in the midfield with Alfa, even in the Merc he seemed to struggle to get past slower cars so not sure his race performance will match his qualifying.

Has the makings of a great race tomorrow

Excellent qualifying. Dare I say it it's starting to feel like the Formula 1 I knew and loved for decades before it was nearly killed off by the catastrophic hybrid formula might finally be back.

Obviously car development and other tracks will see things change, but hypothetically if we do see a season long battle between Max and the Ferraris, it could make for a very interesting dynamic. At Ferrari you've got Leclerc who looks faster but you've got Sainz who bags results more reliably on race day. In some ways their strengths and weaknesses are comparable to Prost and Senna. But the team will likely have to ultimately throw their weight behind one or the other if they're to beat the World Champion. We know Max will make the most of every opportunity, and RB will never drop the ball on strategy, unlike Ferrari. Very interesting to see how things play out.

Lots of other notable mentions through the field, KMag obviously stood out though I do hope to see Mick get up there too at some point to prove he can hold his own against a proven driver. Albon deserves a mention for putting in a great performance at Williams. Given that he trashed the other Williams by a much greater margin than Russell usually did, and George himself made a mess of qualifying, I think the penny will start to drop for many people this season that Mr Saturday was only ever really Mr flattered by Latifi.

Some drive from Iwasa in this F2 race going from 22st to 1st, he also made up 14th places yesterday

I missed the middle of the race, did he do much passing? 5 to go, be nice if someone ahead struggled on tyres to give him a shot at more point.

Crazy stuff just outside the top 10, 5 cars in a pack. Verschoor goes round alas.

F2 doing its own version of 10 green bottles.

With wheels instead of bottles 😂

This is exactly why I tune in to the F2 races, you see some mental stuff happening

The co-commentator for the F2 on sky is some craic, promote this guy to F1 commentary.

Who is he? Was thinking the same 😅

Just caught the last 10 minutes of it, chaos in the pits!

NO! Valsecchi must never be allowed near F1! It's funny the first couple of times only. :P

Some F2 race...all the problems were with right front wheels in the pitlane. Even Vips getting held up in the pits earlier due to a right front. Pit stops make races more interesting. The sprint race yesterday wasn't half as exciting as today's race.

Davide Valsecchi already works for Sky Sports Italian service.

    This too shall pass.

Is Lewis a bit of a loner at the track? Watched a bit of the driver parade and he seemed to be standing on his own for it, then hops off the float before it had finished. Doesn’t like to mingle with the other drivers?

So with Naomi Schiff being part to the team on sky for this season does that mean that Johnny Herbert gone ?

I don't think he's as close to the rest of the grid as the other guys are. From he entered F1 he was a wunderkind and seemed to kind of do his own thing. Now he's a bit of a "Hello there fellow children" I suppose. :P He seems a bit awkward unless he's asked to talk about something very specific.

Don't know if betting talk is allowed , but anyone think Hamilton for a podium at 3/1 is decent?

Very much so, he should be 5th on pace so wouldn't take a whole lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,193 ✭✭✭thefa

Hard to know what the race pace will be like but would have to think both Ferrari and Red Bull have the potential to pull away. Probably hoping for an incident and a great start to put himself in a position. Risky but not bad odds on a great driver.

I took a good few weeks off from keeping up with F1 after the end of last season because let’s be honest it was a clusterfuck of an end to the season. It worked though because it’s made me eager for the new season.

Naomi Schiff is a breath of fresh air so far and seems to ask good questions.
