Wondering if I'm entitled to state pension when the time comes, as I left Ireland in 2010, but did contribute PRSI...

You will be able to claim for the contributory pension.

If you have enough stamps paid you may receive the minimum payment when the time comes.

Hi Bacon

Got my sums wrong above. Based on the premise that you have 14 x 52 Class A PRSI contributions and that you will just be claiming for yourself, then if you were 66 today and applied for State Pension then you would be awarded €88.66 per week.

If you are years and years away from 66 then you can consider that this definitely won’t be the case.

20 years is a long time away and the state pension is going to be under huge pressure by then. Not difficult to envisage that eligibility will be revisited and criteria tightened. The answer to your question is that no one can possibly know (but I would be relying on any state funds, tbh, with your current level of contributions)

I have a personal pension also, but it's not huge. I'd like to think I'd get something paying PRSI for 14 years.

I’ve been paying for longer than that and not counting on anything in 20 years. Even if you do get something it’ll likely be little more than pocket money

I’m very pessimistic about you getting anything in 20 years+ time for 14 years of contributions. I’m pretty sure that by then there will be a minimum of 20 years needed for any kind of con pension. We are already struggling to pay the pensioners as it is especially after some very populist increases over the last 20 years. So I wouldn’t bank on it, and you can treat it like a bonus if it is still there, when the time comes.
