Pup and prsi contributions

Is there a stamp paid if on pup payment? I read last Yr they were passing legislation on it but I wonder if they even did. I also read they were going to link previous earnings to JB rate but that went out the window unsurprisingly.

There is a full stamp paid on PUP and yes it was legislated for .Re linking previous earnings to JSB, no, probably will be kicked into the long grass.

If you were on PUP in 2020 you can check contributions paid for 2020 on mywelfare, I don't believe 2021 is updated yet .

I've been told there is but the contribution record has not been updated for 2020 and 2021 yet so none are showing for those years.

For JBSE, the weekly payment is linked to previous earnings based upon income brackets.

The 2020 and 2021 contribution records have still not been updated!

Just to be clear, I'm referring to JSB ,not JSBE (Self employed) PRSI contributions are uploaded for 2020 (PAYE), I'm not sure how this works for self employed.

Yes, it is later for self-employed due to the self-assessment dates.

Is it correct though that a PRSI credit is awarded for each week on the PUP?

Hi, yes there is a full PRSI contribution awarded for each week on PUP. I've checked this myself personally. I was on PUP for almost all of 2020 and some of 2021 , I've a full 53 A paid contributions showing on my statement, I know its different for self employed so I can't be sure how it's works for self employed, but my understanding is, the minister intended relevant contributions to be applicable regardless of PAYE of Self employed recipients of PUP .

Not a credit, it’s a contribution. As if you were in full time work. Same as Maternity Benefit.

Ah don’t stress Dempo. Only a certain amount of credits can be used to make up short term benefit payments. A certain amount must be contributions. So it was decided that say you needed Illness Benefit this year, but like yourself you were on the PUP for most of 2020? Then all your PUP payments included a contribution, not a credit.

Thanks and as you may recall , I did need to apply for illness benefit and thankfully I had enough contributions 😏

Can I ask what exactly is a credit , is this when your on a SW Payment 🤔
