Could also be a puncture, have you looked around the tyre for evidence of a nail or screw, probably still embedded in it so losing tiny amounts of air.

50:50 chance nobody ever changed that 1 cent valve. The tyre shops thinks it is too expensive and they never replace these. Only some places does that, rest of...never

Alloys? Have similar where air is leaking slow phase at the rim due to flaking varnish by the looks of it.

Mix up some washing up liquid and water in a spray bottle or cup and remove the valve cap and spray or pour the mixture on the valve, if it bubbles up there is an air leak causing the bubbles, to replace valve core you need a special tool to remove the valve core and also a replacement valve. if it is the valve stem (the whole black body of the valve) the tyre will have to be removed

Spit and done. Old days nobody did not need "special tool", every cap had a small fork. Fancy, special, uhhhhhhhh

Man if I ever spat on a customers car, I'd hope my foreman would have punched me right where it came from.

Yes, valves are cheap but so is soap.

Bit of soapy water and a spray bottle, jack up the wheel and go around the contact area, rim and valve. You should see air slowly bubbling somewhere. If that sounds like hassle, a tyre shop will charge you a tenner to do the same job.

I wouldn't bother, if you said black, he'd say white. He can't have anyone else having a good idea.

I agree. I'd take a fairly dim view of someone spitting on their tyre valve or anywhere at all really. It's gross, specially when soap and water are basically everywhere.

THIS IS NOT BUSINESS SECTION!!! DIY, and spit to your car so much as you want. Obviously you do not understand how it works...

My qualifications would say otherwise, mate. I'm just not a hack.

    Nice use of caps.

It's only the business section when you want it to be then?

You're unreal. There's no need for this. It's literally mickey measuring.

There was literally nothing wrong with Cians suggestion, it's the best proof i've seen yet of the absolute rot you talk in that the only way you could try and better what he said was to advise someone to spit on something to save the expense of some soap and water.

I used to work with a fella like you. "Two shites" they used to call him. He always had to go one bigger or one better on any story anyone ever told, always had to have the last work. A fella came out of the jacks one Monday morning after a feed of Guinness the night before and said; jaysis i'm after doing a massive shite, to which the other fella replied; yeah i've just done two shites myself.

If the valve stem is leaking and the car has TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) valve fitted with transponder in the wheel, then it maybe a bigger issue, valve replacement is a bit more expensive, only did 1 once, valve stem was 15 euro and tyre had to be removed, all depends on the type of car, best to take to a tyre fitter, get a couple of quotes! check your owners manual if you're unsure

Guys, Thanks for all comments, no need to argue, it's only a tyre!!

I will have to get Putin to send in his peackeeping troops if this keeps up.

I think I'll take it to Malahide Tyres for them to fix.

Thanks again, from the bear 🐻.
