Replacing smashed rear window

Named driver has reversed my Fiesta into a tree and knocked out the rear window. There's a small crack in the plastic of the boot just below it too. I'm fully comp with Liberty including the windscreen cover, but not sure if it covers this? Wondering if I should just get it fixed without telling them. What sort of money am I looking at there?

Ask Liberty is it covered. A glass claim may not affect your NCB

It may depend how it was caused (stonechip vs crash) so read the policy document carefully.

In any case, a rear window replacement is fairly cheap (compared to panel repair) so get a price on that from the likes of Autoglass.

I had the rear window of a Mazda 6 spontaneously shatter while parked in my driveway at 2am a few years ago.

Insurance replaced it without question. Took a few days for the fitters to get the part, as it had to come in from the UK, but they came out to my house and fitted it in the driveway. No effect on NCB, premium or anything else. Check your policy documents, because things can be different from insurer to insurer, but if you have glass cover, you should be good to go.

I think you are mistaken and a branch blew off the tree the other night in the storm... you have insurance for accidents... as someone said check if it effects your NCB...

That may be considered an "Act of God" which some insurers still do not cover (most will now in reality though, at least on comprehensive policies anyway).

Don't call the insurance.

Simply go to autoglas or AAA and book it it

Just say rear windscreen is damaged. No need to say how.

They will take insurance details and bill insurance.

Once you have windscreen cover it will not affect ncb

The rather casual advice to commit a fraud is a bit disturbing.

Thanks for all comments. Decided not to bother with insurance as it wasn't an accident (not in the proper Act of God sense), and the driver was fine with paying. The policy excludes negligence, not too surprising really.
