    Bring them to a cobbler to get resoled? You can buy Vibram soles online.

    Boots can be resoled. I would check with your local hiking shop as well as the cobbler.

    Did you get this done in the end?

    I have a pair of Meindl Peru GTX boots which are absolutely treacherous on wet surfaces.

    What sole should i be looking to get? Anyone get theirs done recently and at what cost?

    are the soles knackered or were they always dangerous on wet surfaces? i know meindl use to do repairs on old boots, unsure if they do it anymore

    from meindl's site

    'If soles of newly purchased boots are slippery, this may be due to silicone residue from the impregnation agent. If the boots have not been used for a long time, the surface of the rubber tread sole can harden and thus become more slippery – a typical property of vulcanized rubber.

    In both cases: Roughen the soles a little, e.g. with a piece of sandpaper or a wire brush. If this is too inconvenient, you can also simply walk or “scrub” with the boots over rolled chippings or asphalt.'

    'All Meindl hiking, trekking and mountain boots can be resoled. As long as the overall condition of the boots is still good, soles can be replaced without any problems. Your local shoemaker can do this or you can send the shoes to us via a Meindl specialist dealer.

    Please feel free to send any questions to our service team: serviceteam@meindl.de

    For international customers outside of Germany and Austria: Feel free to contact us through serviceteam@meindl.de – we´ll connect you to the right contact person in your country of residence.'

    Thanks for the replies.

    @sporina

    Thing is, i don't want same as what is currently on them but no harm in looking into it either and see what options there are.

    @Wanderer78

    From day one they were always dangerous on wet surfaces. They are a great fit,well looked after, keep my feet bone dry but as i said, they are treacherous on wet rock, boardwalk etc. I wouldn't even sell them or give them away.

    I tried sandpaper, i put a wire brush head on the drill to rough it up, dragged my feet along rough surfaces and nothing ever worked.

    Will send off an email to them and see.

    @tphase

    Thanks, something to look into as well and see if it's all worth the hassle.
