If only the ******* muppets in charge would use the energy crisis at the moment to push for net metering the people would jump all over that and maybe we can slowly say **** the Russian gas.

But the scumbags running the show will always take profit before people/planet.

Some statesians are leaving the grid. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/frustrated-with-utilities-some-californians-are-leaving-the-grid/ar-AAV0LDg

If it gets much worse here i can see the same thing happening

Well it's always been much easier to go off grid in the US. And considering PG&E can't go a year without cutting power to half the state and burning the other half down, I can't really blame them

Bit trickier here in Ireland, less sunlight means you'll need the grid as backup, unless you've got land for wind turbines and a farm to generate biogas for winter

And as bad as ESB can be, they are generally good at keeping the lights on, and I don't think they've caused any natural disasters yet

Have you seen diesel prices? 😜

I mean yes a generator would work but if the objective is to save money then it's a no go unless you're planning to grow biofuels or something

True.. even the gasoil (green) is shocking at the minute.

In some places in the states it is apparently illegal to go off the grid. Probably because some Boss Hawwg-type fella handed a "check" to some guv'nr`s campaign trail in the 70s.

I lived in a place before where I was being charged the 'low usage' surcharge and could get by easily enough on a few kwh a day if I was careful. But ya it would be a struggle without wind turbine or some extra source of power.

Electric Ireland still have a low usage surcharge here!

I notice SSE don't have it. but their standing charges are a bit higher anyway. They'll schneek it in there one way or another

With the BG price rises, I now have almost price parity between gas/Energia EV rate elec. 6.86c vs 6.95c per kWh. 🤔

Certainly settles the debate as to how to heat the cylinder on the dull days!

Whatever about their price increase, I'm raging at the 100+ euro increase in their standing charge!! 500 euro!! I'm out at end of contract

    Hi,

Anyone have any idea if I change supplier after being registered for microgeneration will the new supplier know this and also pay me for unused electricity or do I need another NC6 form?

NC6 is linked to your meter's MPRN afaik so independent of supplier

Hi, I recently gained microgeneration status. Energia had sent me an email with the below. I signed up for energia June 2022 but they only paid me for electricity generated for a few days. Am I misinterpreting the below in thinking this should be backdated to when my supply switched to Energia, I got in contact with Energia who told me that the minor payback was correct, ESB only sent them data for the current billing period. This I find contradicts with the below.

    Any thoughts?

You will receive FIT payments from the date that the installer filed the NC6 form with ESBN to let them know you're a microgenerator

You won't receive anything before that date

Sometimes the installers can be late to file the paperwork resulting in a delay in payment
