Went into BOI today trying to lodge cash into someone else's a/c....couldn't lodge without a bank card of some type. Ditto in the post office. WTF?

Brother said he tried to change 300 dollars to euro in AIB and was told it had to go through his a/c first..ie lodge , then withdraw. WTF?

yes, been standard stuff for a few years. Very hard to move around cash other than in and out of your own account (and even then you're asked questions about its source if it's a large amount being deposited).

All to with anti money laundering , those involved in drug trade in ireland are awash with cash and theres only so much you can spend on foreign holidays, cars , lavish communion parties etc.

Many many law abiding people then are inconvenienced with the measures tackling drug crowd.
