Attic water piping leak

    Hi,

Since the start of the new year, we've noticed a water leak near the piping near our gas boiler. We've been trying to get a plumber out to have it checked since then. Old 2 storey DCC house.

Eventually got someone from our insurance to look at it mid January and advised us that the fittings (tectite) would need to be replaced and that they shouldn't of been used the first place. He mentioned it would not leak while the heating is on as the pipes would expand and close any gaps but as soon as the heating was off, the leak would continue. Unfortunately its not covered by the insurance company so we had to find another plumber.

After 2 weeks, finally got someone to pop out for another inspection and advised that they would replace techtite fittings & pipes to upper attic, install 2 new auto air valves with a total cost of €1700 ex Vat. Guy seemed nice enough but I don't know enough about the cost of materials, time & effort required to fix the issue.

Is €1700 about right for what I was looking at?

Appreciate any help or thoughts on this.
