Why isn't it in County Clare, it's far closer to the mainland of Clare than Galway!

It’s a long way from Clare to there

I have visited a few times and by feck do they put on the fake oldschool paddy thing for the tourists. And absolutely throngs of people going there on the ferry during the tourist season.

I'd say anyone who owns the vaguest excuse of an Airbnb cottage there is raking it in

It's a long way back too. The last time I went I took my own boat which was grand but after the weekend I had to go back despite it being mad foggy. About half way back my GPS went. I was damn glad to see the harbour at the end of that trip

I think it was part of munster years ago but changed for some reason, far more in common with the burren in terms of scenery flora etc than Galway

I worked there years ago doing maintenance with a company for 3 months in the summer, grand for a day or weekend trip but the size of the place would get to you, anyone with any sense leaves and the rest milk the tourist for all they can along with the ferries of course

Serviced from Galway, only year-round ferries in the old days were from Galway and so on.

It was liberated from the Indians on the same day as Galway, and has been a part of Galway since.

Clare wasn't liberated until a week later.
