You'd still hear people saying "it will eat all my data allowance", or I'll get a big phone bill. Don't all the networks nowadays give people more than you could ever eat data from 11.99 per month? Are some people still on the 2001 Digifone speakeasy plan?

Personally, work pay my mobile bill. But to be honest if they didn't, I'd probably be one of the people stuck on a more expensive/less featured legacy plan - I've enough going on that I don't necessarily be on top of things like that.

I'll never change mine. Pay 20 every 28 days, keep 20 for personal use and use all the data I can get my hands on. Apparently there's a few texts and own network calls in the package too.

All plans contain fair usage clauses.

Almost all charge you for going over or cut your connection until you pay more. But Gomo throttle the connection instead. For me this means Netflix / Youtube are usable all month but NowTV isn't.

It's nearly worth paying a tenner a month just for the piece of mind and to avoid the annual battle with VirginMedia price rises and trying to sort out them putting me on the wrong contract.

That one from 3 is actually a very good legacy plan to still be on, for many years it was the only decent plan for data users. you can't get any plan that allows you keep the 20€ credit anymore

Phone is included in my package- probably paying over the odds on long run but handy having the latest phone with good battery

I honestly don't understand in 2022 how people are still paying €40 or €45 a month for a phone bill when you can get a sim card that has all calls, texts and unlimited data for €9.99 a month. I know most are doing it to chase the latest iPhone/Samsung though... which is another scam.

Buy reasonably priced phone (€100-150) separately that can do 98% of things a latest gen apple/Samsung €1k phone can.

I just buy a OnePlus phone every few years. Usually one that was released two years previous, so they're cheap and an absolute beast of a phone, sell it then and buy another. I'd say over the last 5 years I've spent €500 on phones and recouped €300 selling them on. Phone bill is always €9.99 no matter how many calls I make or how much data I use. It's never once been over that.

Lots of people are naturally lazy and just can't be bothered with picking up the phone and having to decide on a new plan. Also lots of braindead people out there have fallen for the getting an upgrade with a free phone.. a free phone that you end up paying crazy money for over 2 years
