No BBC Three on Eir?

With BBC One, Two, Four and the News Channel all standard additions across the various platforms, it seemed logical that BBC Three would similarly appear when it launched this evening, but evidently not. Is this solely an issue with Eir, or general across Virgin, Sky, etc?

It doesn't appear to be on any of the Irish TV providers yet. Must be a rights issue. Hopefully it will be added.

They have some African Nations matches on, perhaps when that finishes on Sunday it will be shared here. Usually it's the rights for Sport or TV shows that results in the UK and Ireland rights holder wanting access restricted. Providers here may be unwilling to have it here for now if they have to impliment blocks for certain programming.

It's not currently licenced to be shown in the EU (Ireland) at the moment

It's annoying as we would often get the BBC 3 content on late night BBC 1. Doubt they will do that now.

The suggestion is that the BBC are ready to make it available to Irish providers, and have a deal in place with Sky at any rate but haven’t done so yet due to a delay in obtaining a license in the EU. This license won’t be obtained in Ireland, due to our heavy touch regulatory regime, but is likely to be in Luxembourg where the BBC have EU licenses for their other domestic channels. (Should be said that this is informed conjecture, and the BBC themselves have made no such announcement for any kind).
