I bet Hawkins is looking forward to playing Zhao Xingtong in the first round :)

Surprised to see Jimmy Robertson there

Apparently selection is based on " 1 year Ranking List ".

If you scroll down that seems to be based on prize money., where JR is in the top 16.

So that's kinda random really isn't it because it all depends on what prize money was on offer which differs from tourney to tourney.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,940 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Yeah, I know it's based on the one year list. I just don't recall seeing him get that far in many tournaments but apparently he has.

What a pink by K Wilson at end of 87 break to go 3-3. Rarely see them go in at that angle and that pace.

3-3 struggle for Willo against G Wilson.

Few complaints about the tables set up there in a new venue. Main table seemed to be rolling off a bit and Willo not at all happy with slowness of table 2.

The big one on tonight, shortly. Ronnie v Trump

Fancy Ronnie to up his level and take it 6-2 or 6-3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,102 ✭✭✭Genghis

Ronnie has opportunity to be No.1 again if he wins this championship. Gotta think he will be up for it. Usually follows a poor tournament (Champ league) with a strong outing next time.

    Am looking forward to this.

Just tuned in and jinxed Ronnie to miss that red. How have they been playing standard wise so far?

    Gwan Ronnaaayy!

Great standard before the interval. 97% pot sucess and Judd still 3-1 down. Still good after the break, Ronnie could have had it won by 9.10 if the red had of gone in last frame.

    Gwan Ronnaaayy!

    Ton with left hand 😊

Edit: potted the yellow lefthanded to bring him up to 100 points - not the whole break

Interesting what McManus was saying about Ronnie's adjustment in his cue action, not that I noticed. My theory is that if you make an adjustment it makes you concentrate on it a bit more than usual but the improvement effect wears off over time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

You nailed it Arthur, 6 - 3 win for Ronnie.

No complaints from me that the old guard are still hanging around. Great stuff by Ron.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

You have to wonder if Trump is ever going to get back to the level he was at a few years ago. Maybe he should make a cue action adjustment :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Ronnie and Judd almost played a 4 frame mini session in the time Higgins v Vafaei have played their opener.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Walden playing with a bit of a spring in his step. Nice century.

    4 - 2 to Williams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

That was an interesting opening red by Williams going into the pack to get on the black. 50/50 that would work out as nicely as it did.

Are O’Sullivan/Trump’s post match interviews from last night available anywhere anyone know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

I take it you've tried YouTube? Didn't see any myself, tuned out when the match was over.

edit: no actually, coverage went over to the Allen match straight after. Didn't see any interviews.

Did not fancy that red to middle at all.

    Reprieve for Walden

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Williams imploding since 5-2. Happened to him recently, I think at the Masters, 5-3 up, collapsed and lost 6-5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

    Oi RICKY!

    Willo fairly chucked that away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Ahh what a pity the way that ended after Mark potting that great long red to get on the black. Walden deserved it though from what I'd seen from the point I started watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Barry Hawkins has dispatched both of the German Masters finalists now. He's some man for beating the big hitters in the early stages of a tournament and crumbling when he gets to the SF or final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Neil Robertson lookin' well for 40! Must be the vegan diet...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

They both could pass for 30. We sure are a long way from Bill Werbinuik and Alex smoking fags and boozin it up till the wee small hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

I'd be surprised if Neil didn't go on to win now, Sullivan too cavalier at times with his safety and what he takes on, then again I'd never rule him out either.

Frame 8 is ridiculous. I think Robertson is in bits but going to fall over the line.

Knocked the black off the table, can’t remember the last time I saw that in live play

Expected Ronnie to get that red to middle. But he's just been off the boil tonight.

Jimmy Robertson struggling to get over the line for a big win.

Always think he is Scottish with a name like that.

    Huge win for him.

Who knows what could happen. N Robertson seems a big favourite in the last 4, but you'd never know which of the others could get the big win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

No doubt the Hawk will put in a stronger performance in the final here after the disappointment at the Masters.

Not going so well for UK Robbo here.. just tuned in at end of last frame (5), and Jimmy had a chance to reduce the deficit to 3-2.. a bit unlucky with safety in leaving Neil a hit on the yellow, and that really put paid to Jimmy's chances..

4-1 down now.. missing that easy red to corner pocket won't help his cause either... a few more pots away from 5-1 up, is Neil; and a bit of luck in not potting that pink into centre, when potting red there..

oi oi - Jimmy's back in.. not over yet.. Gwan Jimmy! some life left in frame 6 yet..

Neil under no pressure what so ever, not even playing half as good as he can and still Jimmy is no threat. I no this was always likely to be the case but he's had his chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

    Deja vu for Hawkins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Last 2 frames for Hawkins, hang on in there Barry son.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

Great comeback to stay in touch, be easy to let the head drop after that great spell from Robbo, both are playing well.

Could be in for a close one if the quality stay like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,604 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Any idea what the referee said to Hawkins? McManus spoke over it. It was something about Mark Selby and 'breaking it'.

It was something to do with the amount of reracks I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

Its been quite comfortable for Robbo, Barry has done well to hang in there but that's all he's doing unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

At 5-7 the Hawk needed to get his skates on, but at this stage it looks all over. Robertson has been impressive all week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Easy to criticise Hawkins but he actually did very little wrong, Robertson was almost unplayable today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,551 ✭✭✭AllForIt

That was some pink by Wilson, though I'm not convinced he played for that position on the black as it turned out, rather he knew the white was going in that general direction.

That yellow by Robertson which I didn't see at the time was awesome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 HeavyLift

    Played very well.

Few bob on him for the World Championships.

    World Championship 2022 Winner

    • Judd Trump 4/1.
    • Neil Robertson 28/5.
    • Ronnie OSullivan 7/1.
    • Mark Selby 19/2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

You have to oppose Selby really, and Trump seems well out of sorts. Wouldn't surprise me to see John Higgins get a 5th World title

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭waynescales1

    Dunno about those odds.

Trump way off his best at the moment, Robertson always struggles at the WC, O'Sullivan may not be up for the 17 day slog and Selby off form and talking about mental health issues.

Higgins, Bingtao and maybe Hawkins to make the final possibly good value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

Should be a could WC this year, looks very open, Selby and Judd not really playing well, you have Yan and Zhao in the mix this year and even though Robbo is in great form he has historically underperformed in the worlds, you have Ronnie/Higgins/Williams still floating about, wouldn't rule them out either, very hard to predict.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 HeavyLift

    Fair shouts.

Usually put a few quid on Higgins.
