Buildup in kettle with water softener

I live in an area with notoriously hard water so I got a water softener installed about a year ago. It is a twin type so no hard water should enter the system.

A few weeks back I desccaled my kettle because it had some limescale remaining since before the softener was installed. Yesterday I noticed that there was some type of build-up on the kettle again.

Could this be an issue with my softener, or is there another explanation?

Any advice appreciated.

Silly question, does it have enough salt in the tank?

Yep, 2 blocks, always kept topped up

the cold water supply to the kitchen sink is usually not connected to the water softener as per building regs

Can I ask what sort of water softener you have..im looking at getting one installed and seen ones that go under the sink which would be what I would like to go for..are they worth the money in yiur experience.

Got the issue resolved so now I can reply! Yes worth it if you have bad limescale in your area. Was a necessity for me as it would have caused damage to heating and appliances.

Faulty unit essentially. Lots of things were tried but it had to be replaced in the end. Never got a clear root cause.

It was using salt all along but not doing anything.
