A red MH reg Toyota Corolla hybrid

    🙂

Whats the budget, do you want bigger/smaller, any kids involved? Type of driving you’re doing etc

I'm not sure about the budget yet. Something around the same as the Astra hatchback. No kids unless you count two dogs. country driving mainly. Galway to Belfast maybe twice a month

    Budget is a huge factor

    Let's says 10,000. No higher than a 2013 car

Here is a 2015 Megane petrol

not sure if it's petrol or diesel you want but it's a good car. Loads of diesel Meganes out there at great prices.

I have petrol. Diesel would suit for the Dublin and Belfast trips from Galway.

I was thinking that too. Are engines good in the newer ones

Diesel, yes. The 1.6 is an impressive unit - powerful and economical. I just re-read your original post where you say your budget may not allow you something newer than 2013. In that case, I would suggest a Toyota Auris 1.4 diesel.

Dogs? Can't look past a bmw 320d or 520d estate (e91 or e61). If you're clever you can get an early 2008 which creeps into cheap tax territory and more importantly the M47 engine (this is super important). An N47 with proof of chain done is just as good. Most of these are also automatic with a healthy 163 or 177 BHP... And more good news is they won't cost you more than 4k but keep 1k in the back pocket for the next NCT. You'll never go back to an opel.

Don't listen to they naysayers... They're awesome if you do your research.
