Fitting curtain rods

Hi, I am fairly new to DIY and working with plasterboards.

I recently got a house and wish to install curtains rods myself.

Would anybody having experience share some information?

I am not sure what type of screws can hold weight of curtains that are about 3-4kgs.

It all depends on what is behind the plasterboard. If the plasterboard is stuck directly to the wall you will need to fix the curtain pole holders to the concrete. In a lot of house the plasterboard may have up 100mm of insulation between it and the wall in which case you could use something like this

Or you could still fix them to the concrete with these

Easiest way to check how insulation is there would be to push a nail into the way and see how far it goes before you hit concrete.

Do not use wall plugs in plasterboard on their own by the way. It will end in disaster.
