Am clearing out my late father's office. do anyone know if there is anyone collecting old laptops. or charity that needs them. Came across a Compaq Armada 1540D , running Win 95. its working and in fairly good nick. also a HP elite book. also working. would be a shame to dump them.

https://camara.org/ i,d install a slim linux os on the laptops, slax os looks good, download iso file, burn image to disc ,set boot from cdrom in bios, boot order = cdrom1, hardrive, ,2. even an old laptop can be used to teached typing. download the 32bit version iso ,file. maybe delete all files, mp3, mp4, avi, jpeg as the drives are only 20 gig or 40gig on those laptops.delete all files from c system , c system 32,temporary internet folder ,or instaLL CCcleaner it deletes all old files, temp files etc

Highly unlikely that has anything more than a 4GB drive and 32MB RAM MAX. There comes a point where something is no longer useful.

I assume three months later that it's probably gone but I'd take it if it's still around.

There may be many that might take them for the screen or the floppy drive, for a project etc.

    Or many other reasons.

If you put them up on freetrade.ie (adverts free stuff) you will likely get somebody that will take them.
