Off License selling cans 2 years out of date

Local offo has a bargain bucket with reduced cans, some nearly 2 years out of date. Is this even legal?

2 euro a can, craft beer job, chap behind counter said its old stock so they can charge what they want.

If it’s a stronger dark beer it should be ok. At worse it’s probably oxidised.

Beer is best before. I'd hope a shop has enough sense not to sell stuff 2 years past it's Use By date!

Best before really means Not Bad after.

If it's really true that old stock can get around the MUP laws, I can imagine a whole underground industry springing up in the can and bottle label printing game.

There is no such thing as "out of date". It is best before. .

What next, serving you warm cans that say "serve chilled" on them

Best before, is as it's says, it's best, but not necessary, to consume before the date.

Use By is different, there is a potential of food poisoning or other nasty effects if consumed after the date.

If I recall, every food product must have a BB or UB date, and it cannot be longer than 18 months, irrespective of it's actual shelf life.
