it can. The easiest way is probably using a heat exchanger. I connected my vented stove to the existing presurised gas central heating system using a heat genie which is just a heat exchanger.

Thanks, looking to put stove against a wall backing into garage, on this wall the 3 pipes leaving the oil boiler run up this wall, I think there’s a flow , return, not sure what the other is for, basically what Iam asking is if I break through this wall for flue can I connect to those pipes running vertically on this wall and run my flue through the flat roof of garage

There was oil fired central heating in my house when I bought it, and it had a very big open fireplace, which sent most of the heat up the chimney. So I had solid fuel stove installed. The plumber who installed it, also put in a second electric pump thermostat controlled, same as the one in the shed where the oil fired unit is. Never a problem with either, these cold mornings, I use the oil to warm up the house while the fire is getting up to temp , then switch off the oil.

Can I jump in , intrigued by this question and answer's,

I wanted to do something similar a few years ago, I have an oil central heating system ( an internal grant boiler, quite unusual but excellent ) , I also have a stand alone wood burning stove . At the time I wanted , if possible to link the too but was advised I'd need to replace the emmersion, was this correct . I actually never use electricity to heat water, just oil. I'm a complete novice but would have preferred a stove with back boiler and at least benefit from getting hot water/Radiators etc heated rather than just a stand alone stove just heating one room/ area , whilst keeping the oil system also. thank you 😊

yes simple answer but make sure its done by somebody who understands solid fuel installs
